There were voices, 'Carol, Carol'. She woke up at the sound of it, just to realize it was a mere dream. Dark was the room & all she could hear was heavy showers pouring out. She knew it was going to be tough but she would handle it anyway. She had her friends or maybe, not. She wiped her face and walked towards the dining room.
She heard giggles. She walked up towards the window and saw 3 girls, enjoying the first rains.
It drived her all the way to the time when she was with her two best friends, 'Umbrellas in hand and yet getting drenched in the rain. Walking down the streets and.. ' Her thoughts were disturbed when she felt her cell vibrating in her pocket. She reached to see and it was her boyfriend. It had been long she'd heard from him and she was quite content to see his text.
But soon, it was tears that welcomed her. The text read nothing but, 'I am dating another woman. I'm breaking up'. She didn't believe until she read it a thousands of time. Life seemed worthless for her at that instant. Wondering whom she could look upto. She didn't dare confront him. Her parents seperated and were least bothered. Friends busy with their life. No one cares, she thought.
She sat in the corner of her house. Her cell rang. It was an unknown number. She was too pre-occupied with her thoughts and didn't bother lifting it up. It rang again. The same number. She wiped the tears off her face and picked it up.
On the other side of the call, a woman spoke.
'Good evening ma'am'. She didn't bother to reply. The woman continued, 'I'm calling from the vet hospital from Goregoan where in you'd posted your resume`. She asked, 'And?'. 'We're glad to let you know that there is a vacancy and if you'll be interested to.. '. She interrupted the woman, 'Oh yes, I am very much interested'. It was after a long time that she heard a good news, which made her forget all her sorrows for that lil moment. She was filled with joy and was thinking for how long she was waiting for this. Something she loved, animals. 'Ma'am, ma'am?' She said, 'Yes, sorry.' 'You may report tomorrow at 10a.m for further formalities. The pay is.. ' She interrupted her again, 'Doesn't matter, I'll be there'.
She thought, this isn't the end. There was another door that had been opened. But her thoughts, didn't leave her. She kept thinking what happened through the week and in no time, she had reached the hospital.
She walked in and went towards the receptionist, 'My name is Carol.. ' She stopped. She thought for a moment and replied, 'Carol, it is'.
It was a new start for her life, thereafter. :)
